Bed sizes and formats


The plan below gives bed sizes for all mass produced beds and mattresses in inches (US).

In feet and inches, the measurements for standard bed sizes in the UK are as follows.

  • Small single - 2ft 6in wide by 6ft 3in long
  • Standard single - 2ft 6in wide by 6ft 3in long
  • Small double - 4ft wide by 6ft 3in long
  • Standard double - 4ft 6in wide by 6ft 3in long
  • Kingsize - 5ft wide by 6ft 6in long
  • Kingsize - 6ft wide by 6ft 6in long


    Note that a kingsize and super king are about 3 inches longer than single and double beds and that a superking is 1 foot (and not 6 inches) longer than a standard kingsize. European sizes see all bed lengths as 2 metres. US sizes can vary.
